I forgot my password to unlock my acer computer

I restored my acer laptop to factory settings, the computer asked for a screen name and password, which I gave. After restarting the computer, my password and user name are not recognized. How can I bypass the password screen to change this setting in the control panel?

whenever someone's very first post is regarding circumventing a password on a laptop... i suspect it's not their laptop.
