Hi!
I am currently trying to chose which one of these two laptops to buy as they are about the same price and have pretty much the same stuff inside. I think the choice right now comes regarding cooling and battery life, but more importantly the cooling, as I've heard that ROGs usually are not so good at keeping a low temperature.

Solution
About (over)heating: Google some teardown pictures of both machines. This will give you an idea as to how heat is dissipated from the core components.

ASUS ROGs generally place one fan along each side - as far away from each other - thereby directing heat away from the CPU/GPU and out to the corner areas. This serves to "stretch out" or distribute the heat from the centre to the corners instead of concentrating it in the middle.

Lenovos generally place the fans right next to each other, right on top of the CPU/GPU and right in the middle of the chassis. While the fans may dissipate the heat successfully, the heat is still concentrated in the centre area of the laptop - this heats up the WASD area and the area resting on your legs. It...

It doesn't (necessarily) affect the CPU/GPU but you will feel a lot of heat on the keyboard, and don't put Lenovos in your lap.

Please note that the above observations only address the physical layout. They do not take into account the type of CPU/GPU used.

Solution
It depends on what you want to use it for. Lenovo is ok at graphical tasks such as video and image editing as their screens are just ok. Asus is generally a better choice if gaming is concerned as they have a good forum to help with your problems and their cooling is better.
