I've never been able to get microphones to work with my computer. It'll register as a device, but I get no sound from it. I've followed all the usual trouble shooting steps; make it the default device, microphone boost, uninstall ALL sound drivers then download and install the latest drivers for my motherboard (Asus z97-a, windows 8.1 64 bit), all to no avail. It's driving me round the bend, I just do not understand what the issue is, why does it work on my laptop but not my desktop?

Where are you plugging the mic in on your desktop? i had a similar problem, when pluggin a mic to this one case, where the front panel connection was loose and no mic would work in it even when it was being detected. opened up case and wiggled wires in better and wo-la my mics worked.

I've been plugging it in the back directly into the motherboard, I've even had a techie look at it as my front audio was buzzing, they told me the front audio jack was damaged but the back works just fine.
