iPhone 5- AT&T to Verizon?

My brother gave my mother his old iPhone 5 model md638ll/a that he had with AT&T. I wanted to add that phone to my Verizon account. I called Verizon and they said I can't do it because it's not for use with Verizon service. Is there any way around this?

none. If that version of iphone 5 only support gsm(at&t) then it can't run on version(cdma)

Same with At&t iPhone 5S. Or Straight Talk iPhone 5S. Unfortunately cannot be activated on Verizon. Use Verizon's BYOD page to verify if needed.
