Keyboard doesnt function properly

When I press the backspace button on my laptop keyboard instead of deleting it puts in "]" when i type the letter "i" it puts in "4i", the "enter" button puts in "5," I am not sure why this is happening and would really like to have this resolved. I am able to use the keys by using the on screen keyboard or an external USB keyboard but the keyboard on the laptop will not type the correct letters. The 10-key number pad is also having issues.the number 1 key acts like F5, the 3 key puts an "o", the 4 key goes backwards one space and puts in an "i", the 5 key acts like the "Enter" On the mail keyboard (the 10-key enter button works fine), The number 6 puts in a period, the number 7 goes backwards one space and puts in \k, the 9 key puts in "9l" and so does the l key.
I am using a Dell laptop with windows 7 installed. Any help is appreciated.

I have rebooted it multiple times, so yes I have

Whats the solution. I am getting the same problem out here.

Okay, my dad had this problem. He had to restore his computer from the bios (on windows 7) in Win 8 its in the settings.
