hello
I have an old P4 laptop (Compaq Presario 2500) with a broken hard disc.
I have tried to boot from a working Ubuntu live CD, after setting boot
priority to CD, also tried booting with the same cd after disabling the
hard disc in setup, but the system wont boot.
I then tried to boot from a working live ubuntu 10.04 usb drive, after
setting bios to boot from 'removable drive' but no success.
can anyone give me an idea about how to boot the system?

I found a work around that I would like to share.
createing a PLoP Boot Manager CD as explained at

http://www.pendrivelinux.com/boot-from-usb-without-bios-support-via-plop-cd/

It works for PCs having no option to boot form the USB in their BIOS, but it doesn't work for my problem Laptop
Any suggestion?

TIA
