Laptop screen goes black back and forth during gaming

I have an Asus ROG GL771 JM-DH71 laptop and whenever I game on it, the screen goes black for a few seconds and then goes back to normal. The sound still plays but the screen just cuts out. Updating to the latest drivers didn't solve anything. This problem gets really annoying and hopefully someone can help me out.

Ok, I tried it and it doesn't cut out on the external monitor.

so is not a videocard problem which is good being that is part of the motherboard.

Update: Using the Intel Integrated Graphics Card doesn't flicker, while using the GTX 860M does.

what is the driver version number of that card like 15.1.13.0 or something like that? how long has this been going on & have you tried a system restore to before this problem started?

It's been going on since I got the laptop and no, I haven't tried a system restore.

how old is the laptop & is it still under warranty?

The drivers didn't fix the problem and the laptop is about 5 months old, but I wasn't hoping I wouldn't have to send it back for warranty.

send it back as that is what the warranty is for. save what data you want for just in case they send a replacement laptop without your info on it.
