Laptop Screen vertical and horizontal lines.

Hi. I have an Asus U56E. When I power it on, the LCD displays vertical and horizontal lines, rendering the laptop useless. I have plugged it into an external monitor and have ruled out motherboard failure since the external monitor displays fine. If I position the screen correctly, I can get the LCD to display everything correctly, but in black and white. The only things I could think of being the problem are the LCD connector or the LCD itself. Any suggestions?

The symptoms fit a faulty or loose cable from the motherboard to the display. The bad part is that the cable is often one of the harder parts to find. Replace the cable, you should be good then.

I ordered both the cable and the LCD (just in case). Thanks for your help! I'll let you know which is the problem
