MIDI to USB cable not working

I jsut bought a midi to usb cable to connect to a midi keyboard , when i connect it the in light on the cable flashes but doesent stay on , ive messed around with where each cable goes and the lights arent coming on , meaning no audio in being transferred , some please help

Ensure that the external device has power. (MIDI cables is not able to give power to an external device even though the other end is USB). Ensure you have all 5 pins at the MIDI end of the cable. (any that are bent or simply aren't there, the cable will need replacing).

i have a power cable for the keybaord , its a 9v and the midi keybaordsn are turning on , however the midi cable isnt showing any connection

The MIDI cable is plugged into the 'out' port on the keyboard? Also the software you are using, have you chose the right routing (input/output) options under settings?

i tried in fl studio but no options come up on in or our port
