Hi All!

I'm currently having a dilemma on whether to buy the MSI GE62 Apache Pro-004 or the Dell Inspiron 7559 ( I7 Skylake Series )

Here are the specifications of the following laptops:
---------------------------
MSI GE62 APACHE PRO-004

  • Intel Core i7 6700HQ Turbo Boost up to 3.5Ghz
    NVIDIA Geforce GTX960M 2GB GDDR5 VRAM
    16 GB DDR4 2133 MHZ RAM ( up to 32 GB Upgrade-able )
1 TB Harddrive 7200rpm, with mSata ssd slot
Full HD Screen 1920x1080 15.6 Inches
    Dual fans, dual vents
---------------------------
DELL INSPIRON 7559

  • Intel Core i7 6700HQ Turbo Boost up to 3.5Ghz
    NVIDIA Geforce GTX960M 4GB GDDR5 VRAM
8 GB DDR3 RAM up to( 16 GB RAM )
1TB HDD 5400rp, with mSata ssd slot
    FHD Display 1920x1080 15.6 Inches
    Dual fans, triple vents
---------------------------
My main concern is which one of both is more powerful and would yield more FPS when gaming ( games like Skyrim, NFS Rivals, Fallout 4, GTA 5) , the Dell has a 4gb GDDR5 version of the GTX960M while the MSI has the 2GB GDDR5 version. The MSI however has 16 GB of DDR4 RAM while the the Dell uses an 8GB DDR3 RAM.

Buying the MSI, I would use up all my budget but If I buy the Dell I'd have enough for an mSata ( m.2) SSD

Thanks!

Fps would be quite similar, doesn't matter the 2gb or 4gb since the GPU will reach its ceiling way before the VRAM limit is reached. 4gb vram is useful only if you use an external monitor. 8GB is more than enough and the 7559 has the option of upgrading to 16gb in the future, if you ever run out, however its DDR3. So if you are not using an external monitor, definitely go for the MSI.

So the 4GB version of the 960M wouldn't really add a noticeable fps increase I guess.. Thanks will go for the MSI, It also has a better build quality and really feels like a gaming laptop whereas the dell looked like a souped up business laptop on steroids thanks!

It won't add any FPS increase. Games which draw a lot of VRAM will first hit 100% gpu usage before reaching the 4gb vram cap. Also yeah dells are crap, unless they are Alienware, then they are overpriced crap.

So the MSI will perform well with games like Skyrim and Fallout? And Dota 2 at High settings right?
