Hi.
I bought my wife a new laptop for Christmas and from the first press of the start button it has been really slow.
It's a Dell Inspiron 15 3531.
I downloaded AVG free.
I downloaded all drivers from the Dell website.
I ran the hardware diagnostics in BIOS with no errors.
I then got Dell to sens out a USB key and reinstalled 8.1.
But still it is slow to Boot/Shut down and occasionally uses 100% of CPU in task manager.
I decided to run 3rd party tests on the hardware.
I ran the Intel CPU stress tests - all good.
I used the Windows Memory diagnostic test - all good.
Next I ran the Windows test on the C drive - all good.
I also downloaded HD Tune 5.5 free and ran the test. It did show an interesting result.

Now 2 million communication errors on a new HDD seems like a lot.
What do you guys think?
Thanks in advance!
Robin
