No boot device available dell

My old WD10EALX hard drive in my Dell Aspiron 560 computer went bad. I just installed a brand new WD10EALX as a replacement drive, but cannot get any response except a message that says, "No BOOT device available, press ENTER key to retry". I can choose the drive as my boot device, but all I get is that message no matter what I do. What is my problem?

you replace the drive did you format the new one and install a os on it
