No play, just dumb questions

Bought new pc.
Clicked on DVD.
"Choose app".
Did so & installed.
VLC just keeps asking:
What would you like to do?
v Use external storage as media library
v Copy media to the internal storage

This in no possible way makes any sense to me.

I would be expecting:
v Play
v Rip

And none of the options plays.

What the hell is going on in the mind of some "genius"?

VLC used to be a utility, not Mount Everest for the disabled.

If I were looking for a challenge,
the meaning of life is a free option...

Unfortunately many software products seem to act as if they know what is best for the end user or what the end user should do.

E.g., connect to the "cloud". Even worse when updates or new versions change or eliminate end-user options.,.

Thus the defaults and options become limited and less flexible. Or the choices mask some other aspect such as some not so obvious agreement to install "crapware", provide user/user system information, serve more ads, and so forth.

What you might have to do is anwer the question and see what actually happens. Go with the flow and later undo anything that is not want you really wanted.

More practically though - verify what version of VLC is installed. What is the DVD: movie, music? VLC may be...

Maybe the installed version on your new pc is old and/or buggy.

Take a look at the documentation and FAQs - here:

Hopefully there is some other factor involved that is making things (available choices) go astray. See what you can figure out.

Try "Help & Support" or Contact VideoLAN if nothing else works. Software may no longer be as it used to be.
