No sound from pc thru to tv

PC gtx 650 Ti boost hook up to tv direct or thru av to tv has great pic but no sound. SONY Tv has pc selection which gets the pic, no sound whether tv sound or av sound selected. Any ideas? As further info, all cabling via hdmi.

did you check the Sound output option on your computer?

check your cables and try a different cables and different ports if available and see if one of those might be the issues.

Unsure of "sound output" to change. I use the pc monitor most times but like the pic on the hdtv if only I could get the systems sound.

Cables not the problem, I have used a short hdmi to the av and on a game port or any other unused one I get the same result as using different cables from pc to tv direct and choosing the pc input. No sound. I know it is something I must not be doing but in a quandary about what.

go to the sound settings in the Control Panel.

you will need to change the default sound setting to HDMI to have sound on the TV

Hi... and thank you, had to build on your comments but resolved. All hdmi, pc output to av, I used games input port as I do not have games to play, Sony tv has a pc input but not necessary to use as the Onkyo av is hooked up anyway. Changed pc output from the Sound menu on the pc to have the av receiver as default and ...voila, all OK. The only other thing is for me to select Games on the av or remote for the av. If I want the pc speaker system, I just change the default back to Speakers on the Sound menu of the pc. A back and forth thing, that's not much. Thanks again, much appreciated.
