No sound through RCA cord.

I've plugged my laptop into my TV via a VGA cord which works fine but I'm not getting any sound through the RCA plug which is plugged into earphone point on laptop and connected to the same white and red plugs that I use for my DVD player. Any ideas why I'm not getting sound.... Please!!!!

Read your TV manual - it should state which audio input is paired with the VGA video input.
