Peculiar Laptop Activity (Keyboard, boot up & shutdown)

Hi,

I have an Acer laptop that's started acting up in various ways recently.

Firstly, a few weeks ago I noticed that after shutting down the light indicating it was connected to the charger remained on even when unplugged. Pressing a key (any) and the light would go off.

Next, I noticed when booting up the screen would freeze on the Acer splash. Only by pressing a key (again, any) would the revolving dots appear and the boot continue.

Finally, recently a number of keys stopped working out of the blue. I tried a number of solutions I found online without success, including removing the keyboard driver & rebooting which caused all keys to stop. I tried an external keyboard that worked; did reset removing all software I'd installed and eventually upgraded from 8 to 8.1, which resulted in the keyboard working except for one key 'S' (which had been one of the problem keys from before).

The laptop has had minimal use, no knocks, and very seldom connected to the internet.

Any advice, especially on the keyboard would greatly appreciated!

Jake
