Hey, new to the world of surround sound mostly. Was looking to decide between: the Sony STR-DH750, the Pioneer Pioneer VSX-519V-K, and the Sony DA5200ES. There's also another Pioneer - the VSX-74TXVi. Just wanted to know what is going to produce the best sound really. Too many numbers to cram. The more I look at it, the more I don't know which way to lean.

Thanks. Appreciate the knowledge.

Buying "by the number" is a lost cause as they don't really tell you how well they sound. One way to get a better "real life" answer is to take your time and go through all the feedback review in Amazon for each product.

In general, Sony and Pioneers are consider lower-tier brands although they do sell higher-end models like the Pioneer Elite. Onkyo would be your next step up.

Low priced surround receivers won't have a lot of difference in sound quality. It's just not a priority.
Onkyo would be my choice too in that price range.
If you go higher priced then Marantz or Anthem would be good choices. They offer higher quality DA converters and better analog performance. The Anthem has very powerful room correction as well.
