Ps3 to surround sound issue

Hello,i just purchased a sony dav-dz170 which i would like to connect to my 40 inch toshiba along with my ps3 and fios cable box, i thought i set them up correctly but i get sound from the sony speakers when im using the ps3, when watching dvds or the fios cable box everything works fine, this is my configuration...
ps3-hdmi-tv
cable box-hdmi-tv
ps3-optical cable-receiver
cable box-digital coaxial-receiver
i've also set the ps3s audio output to optical.....after that im completely lost

oops that should read that i DONT get any sound from the sony speakers when using the ps3....
