What's the best way to record the output of my Sharp LC-43LE55IU LED TV? to be stored as an mp4 file or whatever on my computer.
I want to record old and new gaming console output that use RCA cables or HDMI(but it would also be nice to just be able to record WHATEVER is outputting on the TV at any time if I want).
It seems like there should be a way to use the HDMI connection between it and my computer that I'm already using to use it as a monitor, and my graphics card (gtx-960) already has a built in recording function to record my computer's output, but as far as I can tell there is no way to use it to record other stuff that's being played on my TV. Is that correct, or do I need a capture card or something?
**edit: I meant RCA cables (not VGA)**
