Could someone tell me what could be the source of the crackling sound of the front side speakers, that repeats every 10-20 seconds with variable intensity?
I tried to exchange the speaker cables, after that the crackling could have been heard from the center speaker, therefore I assume, the problem is not in the speakers, but rather in the Blu-ray player itself. I do not think the cables are damaged.

I agree that the problem is the main unit of the HTS. Noisy transistors or a bad IC can cause this kind of problem.
Cost of repair is usually too high for this kind of system.
The main unit is not replaceable with an AVR because these don't have an amp built in for the subwoofer and HTS systems usually do. You will have to get a new HTS>
