Song Transfer

I have the iRiver h320 and my friend has the old iPod. now i want to trans. his music to mine. does he have to send his songs to me or sumthing or is there a data link cable i can hook up to both and it will transfer the songs directly

You cannot send the songs directly. In fact, I'm not sure you can share files at all from an ipod (especially a new one). If he is using itunes it is probably putting files on the ipod in apples proprietary format. That format can only be read by itunes and you cant dump songs out of itunes as far as I know. I try to stay away from anything apple so I'm not 100% sure on that but that is what I've been told.

Check out my post "Done with iTunes." Apple has fooled us once again. All songs that are purchased or "converted" for use for iPod are in 'm4p' format which makes them completely useless with anything other than iPods. In order to convert iTunes format to MP3 format you have to burn your iTunes songs on CD and reverse rip to MP3. It's absolutely ridiculous, and another good reason Apple products should be avoided.

Hi I don't think you can transfer songs through a cable (unless it's USB to go technology, which is not out yet). For now, you need to go through a PC.
