Hi All,

Having recently treated myself to a new Soundbar for an enhanced cinema experience, I'm a little stuck with the audio when when playing DVDs.

i.e. I have no sound when playing DVDs (DVD->TV->Soundbase), whereas images are appearing fine on the TV.

Note: the sound works fine when viewing cable TV (Cable Decoder->TV->Soundbase)

My equipment is as follows:

  • Sony TV KDL-42W805B
    Sony Bluray Player BDP-S4100
    Cambridge TV2 V2 Soundbase
    Cable Decoder (VOOcorder)

The connections are as below:

  • Cable Decoder->TV HDMI cable (plugged into HDMI in 3)
Bluray->TV HDMI cable (plugged into HDMI in 4)
TV->Soundbase TV Optical Out to Soundbar Optical In

TV Speaker settings - set to external speakers

I'm a little clueless when it comes to which signals can be passed via which cables, so would be very grateful for any assistance.

Many thanks in advance,

Alistair

Solution
Hi - Thanks very much for the reply.

Tried playing around with the BluRay PLayer options, and changed the Audio Output from "Auto" to "PCM". Worked a treat. Now able to enjoy my DVDs with more impressive sound through the soundbase.

Has saved me buying some Marcel Marceau DVDs....

Thanks very much.
