Sony VAIO VPCZ11NGX/X SSD's

I have a VAIO VPCZ11NGX/X that contains three SSD's configured in RAID 0. One of the drives has failed. Can it be replaced? With what? And, where can I get a replacement?

I need to replace one of the SSD's in my Sony VAIO VPCZ11NGX/X, It has 3 128GB SSD's configured in RAID0. They are Samsung drives, model MMDPE56G. I want to know what can replace one or more of them, and where I can get the replacement.

I'd advise you to contact the SSD or the laptop (if the SSDs were pre-installed in the laptop) manufacturer's customer support for assistance. You might as well search their official website for a warranty status check tool, that will help you determine if the SSDs are still covered by the warranty. If they are, you should most definitely be able to get them replaced by sending an RMA request to the SSD's official support staff.

It's highly recommended to use identical drives when creating RAID arrays. Moreover, if you still want to re-build the RAID 0 configuration, make sure you do regular backups of your files somewhere off the RAID (off-site). This type of array has no redundancy or fault tolerance, so you would lose your data all over again, if a drive failure occurs again.

Sony can't answer this question. The machine is six years old and they don't/won't give me an answer. Their solution is to take it to Geek Squad. Geek Squad doesn't even have this computer in its system, so Geek Squad can't help. I contacted Samsung and it doesn't have an answer. Samsung told me to contact Sony. It's a vicious circle.

Sony is the only source for those drives. They used proprietary connectors and cables on most models from that era that you won't find elsewhere. The drives were OEM'd from Samsung and were supposedly built specifically for Sony, that's why Samsung won't talk to you.

Actually, Sony sold off the entire VAIO line as of 3 years ago (or so) so Sony no longer has anything to do with them. You may have to resort to E-Bay or such for parts.
