Streaming Home video to new TV

I'm frustrated and I wonder if you could help?

I have recently bought a Panasonic TX-42AS650B LED TV. I've managed to hook this up to my phone and PC via wi-fi. The TV plays my photos stored on the PC, which is a HP Pavilion ELite HPE operating Windows 7 Home Premium.

The problem occurs when I try to play home video taken with a digital camcorder and stored on my PC. Perhaps it is something to do with the format it is saved in or the network connection, but when I go to play a video on the TV it sticks, stutters and freezes.

There is lots of advice about streaming videos from the internet but I can't see much advice about streaming your own videos from your PC.

Does your TV have a wired ethernet jack? Start by using a full wired connection for all devices. This will eliminate WIFI as the problem.

At the moment, hooking up the Ethernet cable might be awkward, based on the position of the TV, the leads and connections. I'll look into it.
