I'm trying to out an extra 256mb memory stick in aT20 model 2647. Im using pc100 8 chip identical sticks. Mysteriously one 256mb stick will only work in the slot with the bios chip under it and the other one will only work in the opposite slot. No combination of the two 256mb sticks will boot. I get 5 pips.

Any ideas?

Thanks - Richard Anscombe.

How much memory do you have in already? That model can only handle 512MB total RAM, so if you are trying to go over that with the additional RAM, that could be the reason why you are having issues. If not, it could be that the RAM is bad.

I have 256mb RAM already as proved by starting the T20 disabling quickboot. I have an extra identical PC100 256Mb stick. That stick only works on its own in the opposite memory slot to the existing installed memory. The existing stick won't work on its own in the opposite slot. The 2 sticks wont work together in any configeration. Weird I know.

Thanks for your reply - Richard.
