VGA vs HDMI for budget bedroom theatre

In my summer bedroom theatre project I am going to be using a mini projector mounted to my ceiling to watch movies.

I already have bought a 50ft vga cable, that when connected to my GPU Is run thru a VGA -> DVI adapter.

Should I get a more expensive hdmi cable instead? is it really that worth it? Audio is not a problem I'm letting my PC handle it.

I would say getting a HDMI would be your best choice as VGA is obsolete. HDMI cables aren't too expensive on Amazon at this link: https://www.amazon.com/HDMI-Cables-Video-Interconnects-Accessories/b?ie=UTF8&node=202505011 . Hope I helped!

Ok, would it have a negative effect to get a hdmi->DVI adapter so I don't have to keep unplugging my monitor? Or is there a female hdmi splitter? Thanks

Is the mini projector native 1080p, as opposed to just accepting a full HD signal?
If it isn't I would say that VGA will be fine.
Long HDMI cables and splitters can cause handshake issues that can drive you crazy.

If you already have the vga cable and don't have any video issues, I wouldn't bother changing.
