What is the most powerful Mobile GPU currently on the laptop market?

Is it the mobile 5870 that TOMs just benched yesterday and its Nvidia variant the GTX285M?

If so, then the mobile market is still far behind(Nvidia sporting a 8800gts 512mb)....

Its not even DX11 but I have to say an 8800gt isnt that bad for an entry level desktop still...

Currently,2 GTX 285Ms are the fastest option available but in 1-2 weeks AW will release 2 HD 5870M's for their AW M17x which will make that the fastest option available.
Its been always like this,mobile cards are always slower than their desktop brothers(with the same name),but it doesn't mean they aren't powerful.

Also ifthis is true, then the benches would prove that this may be as good as the desktop version of a gts250 or even a gtx260 if its in SLI since this chip is the g92 8800gts in SLI

Wow really? There is SLI on a notebook? Does it use that same gtx285 on the most recent article where you can actually take it out of the laptop unit like RAM?

Yes,check SAGER NP8120,it has 2 GTX 285Ms in SLI(same as the one tested in Tom's article)
