When I press power to wipe cache partition on a galaxy s7 edge should it give any feedback?

I followed instructions and pressed the power button but nothing seemed to happen but the phone won't take any more input.

If the phone is saying you have run out of space, or won't let you download more, then there is no fix for that other than moving things off the phone to the SD card or other location, uninstalling things from the phone or (if possible on that device) turning the SD card into "Internal" storage and moving files and apps to the card.

Wiping anything, or doing any kind of reset, will just wipe your data off the phone.
