Window 8 / Projector / Soundboard

Old system: Windows 7 laptop, VGA to projector, sound via headphone jack to soundboard/speakers

New system Window 8 laptop, Belkin HDMI to VGA to the projector, BUT now, no sound. Sound works when HDMI not engaged but when I plug in the HDMI no sound. Any help for this non-techie?

You need to go into either the audio or video control panels and set the laptop to send the audio as it did before. It automatically set itself to output over the HDMI.
