Astro A40 PC - 2014 Edition

Hi, my friend just went out and bought a new pair of Astro A40 2014s for his PC, it doesn't come with a MixAmp. He can hear things PERFECTLY crystal clear, but his mic quality is really bad, it sounds like he is talking into a toaster and he has to scream for me to even be able to hear his voice. Help!

dude like i cant even use the mic maybe you can help me with this lol so i connected it like this the wire from my headset and into the y splitter it came with and into my front mic and headset ports in the front of my tower
