BenQ TV treating HDMI connection as DVI

Hello,
I just picked up a 2nd Gen Apple TV and hooked it up to my BenQ SD3742 TV. However the HDMI1 input on TV changes to DVI1 when I switch to it. As a result I'm not getting any sound.

I have a cable settop box that I have hooked up to the HDMI2 port. Both video and audio come through fine there. I've tried switching ports and cables, but each time the Apple TV is recognized as DVI with no sound, while the cable box HDMI always comes through fine.

Is there any way to force the TV to recognize the Apple TV connection as HDMI and not DVI?

Thanks for the reply. I've checked and don't see any such setting on the Apple TV. I've messed around with the settings on the BenQ too, to no avail.

You may be getting an EDID error. HDMI is a two way connection so the TV is not being told by the Apple TV that the connection is HDMI. I would call both manufacturers and see if they can help. Try Apple first.

I think the fact that the TV recognizes my Cable box audio and video using the same HDMI port and cable suggests it must be an Apple TV problem. However I haven't seen this issue mentioned by anyone. So maybe it's just a compatibility conflict between these two particular devices.

I'll now have to spend another $50 (half the price of the Apple TV!) on an optical to RCA adapter to get it working (sigh!).
