Hi

I have been looking for a monitor for my ASUS G501JW-CN030H which has a GTX 960M GPU. The monitor I have been looking at is the ASUS VG248QE. I have called ASUS Support but they couldn't answer my question. My question is: can this setup handle 144 Hz if I use a Mini Displayport to Displayport cable? I know that the monitor supports 144 Hz but do my notebook support 144 Hz?

Solution
It may be able to handle it, but settings may have to be turned down in games and such/it may not work well. I would take A nice 60hz monitor instead.

Okay thanks for your answer but does Hz have impact on a PC's performance?

No, it simply allows a higher displayed frame rate.

On a normal 60hz monitor, any frame rate higher than 60fps will cause frames to be skipped(or cause screen tearing) as the monitor can only refresh 60 times a second.

I am getting over 60 fps in the games that I play ;) CS:GO is 100-150 fps and CoD: Black Ops 2 is 80-120 but I am mostly playing CS:GO :)

Sorry I didn't mean it impacts Performance - I meant you may have to turn down games settings to get high enough frame rates to make 144hz worth it.

Even if the resolution is 1920x1080? I know that I have asked this question several times but I just want to be sure before I but a monitor :)
