Component from dvd HDMI from Dish reciever to THeater reciever

I am using an older DVD player that only has component cable capacity and the new theater reciever has both HDMI and Component inputs and outputs. The Dish is HDMI. The DVD player works fine but the Dish reciever will not function. The output to the projector is Component cables. Shouldn't this work?

Your receiver probably does not down convert HDMI to component video. You will need to connect it with component video cables.
