CPU sharing under W2K/XP?

Anyone have any clue about this, what i am after is similar to an CPU farm that you can get in UNIX/Linux, but for W2K/XP. I want to use the CPU off another machine or several, but only its CPU. This way we can distribute an big job that needs CPU power on several machines, but due to the enviroment i am forced to use W2K/XP/NT4 machines, the reason is that the compilers will only run under W2K/XP/NT4. Any clues or hints about this is appriciated.

dont think its possible... UD is not setup to run under a SMP setup.
you can run multiple instances of UD (i think)... try reading the UD forums for more info.

Uhm... he is talking about other porgrams then UD. I think he wants to set the PC up so other PCs can use its calculation power.

My dual-PSU PC is so powerfull that the neighbourhood dimms when I turn it on

well if you have finite units you can split up the processinginto then you could do a UD style distributed net... but if you just want a single app running spread out on multiple CPU's then thats something specialised and would probably involve hand programming.

either way you are looking at something complex indeed.

this sounds like something I read some time ago called parralel computing. I belive the article I read was on the first parralel computer called beowulf, most of my searching through the net show ways of setting this up using unix and linux. If you know of a way to accomplish this under windows would you mind explaining it or giving a link to it. this is something I would like try but I have no knowledge of either unix or linux.

the problems with windows is the cost involved to get liscences that support more than two processors. win2k server perhaps?

I have a distant cousin that breaks down parts of a task and assigns it to different PCs of different power in his house network. Those PCs run WIN98, XP and W2k. Have I seen it in action? Yes - He gave me the dime tour. Do I have a clue how to do it? Unfortuntely no.

Every working computer must be improved .... or replaced ...
