Windows 10. Lenovo Thinkpad R500.

MATSHITA DVD/CDRW UJDA782 optical drive.

Drive will read DVD's but not write to or burn them.

Drive will not recognize two types of blank DVD's.

Lenovo diagnostics says drive "is busy."

Device Manager says "device is not migrated."

Uninstalling and removing drive in Device Manager makes no difference.

Microsoft support refuses to help and says drive is bad.

No online explanation found in any case of "device not migrated."

Your DVD-ROM drive isnt a dvd burner. It can only burn cd's.
DVD function is limited to read only. Thats what ROM stands for Read Only Memory.
