My RV has a centralized control box for the source of input to all TV's. You have to change the source of the signal on the control box when you switch between sources of signal (ie: TV, Cable, Satellite) The satellite connection to the centralized control box is a female coax cable. The Dish VIP 211Z receiver does not have a coax output source, but I does have an HDMI output. Can I use an HDMI splitter to connect to the centralized control box by running an HDMI cable from the Dish receiver to the HDMI input source on the splitter and then running a coax cable from the coax output source on the splitter to the female coax connection to the RV's centralized control box?

Solution
If your control box uses an RF input (the TVs would be set to channel 3 or 4) it would have an F connector which is a female threaded jack. The wire used would be coax RG59 or RG6.
To convert HDMI to channel 3 or 4 would require you to use an HDMI to AV converter

and an AV RF modulator.

Connections would be
DISH box - HDMI - to AV converter
AV conver - Yellow-red- white RCA AV cables to RF modulator
RF modulator - RG 59 or 6 antenna cable with F connectors - to control box input.

You would need an active HDMI distribution amp if you wanted to connect the Dish box directly to an HDTV with HDMI to get a better picture on your main TV. A passive splitter would not work.

Thanks for your quick response. I did not mention that the Dish receiver also has RCA outlets. So could I run the RCA cables to the RF modulator and skip the AV converter?
