I have a Verizon STB QIP 7232
The DVR only 500GB
I want to add 2TB external hard drive

Verizon STB
Motorola QIP 7216
Motorola QIP 7232
Cisco CHS 435 HDC

I have a QIP 7232 STB

question #1 end an external box for hard drive. Requires a ESATA out put to ESATA DVR input

What Box would be the best ?

Of course this depends on Hard drive.
In spite of Verizon stating 1 TB is the limit. Users with 2 or 3 TB drives are obtaining 2TB storage.

I want to go with a 2 or 3 TB drive.
Such as Western Digital
WD20EURS 2 TB
WD25EURS 2.5 TB
WD30EURS 3 TB

I would rule out the 3 TB unless it could be used in computer for video.

Verizon recommends

Western Digital – WDBACS5000EBK-NEVZ – 500GB

Western Digital – WDBACS0010HBK-NEVZ – 1TB

Western Digital Retail – WDBABT0010HBK-NESN – 1TB

I have all read purchased a box for HD

Rosewill RX-358 V2 SLV (Silver) 3.5" SATA to USB & eSATA External Enclosure
( if not good , I can return)

Question:
Is my external box "OK
are would you recommend another ?

What HARD DRIVE would you recommend ?
I am looking at :

WD20EURS 2 TB
WD25EURS 2.5 TB

However they both have "WD "Intellipower"
which WOULD IMPACT rpm. Could be good
as it would slow or sop drive if not recording?

What would you recommend ??

wd caviar blacks are some pretty good HDDs however beware 2tb drives. i own three and have had them die at a few months after using them and the one replacement died a week after i put it in. i would be very concerned about reliability. the 1 and 1.5 drives are good though.

other well known and respected products are samsungs spinpoint F3 and seagate barracuda.
