hv an hp probook 6550b, i changed OS from win7 to win8.1. the prblm am facing is connecting my laptop to an external monitor. wat must i do plz help

how much Watt is it on your power supply when you connect to a external monitor?

Huh? watts? How are you connecting it? hdmi? Are you selecting the correct input on the monitor? Possibly a keystroke on your laptop to send the video out

Believe it or not, but power supply that charges the battery on the laptop matters when you connecting to a monitor.

No it does not. Monitor has it's own power.

Well ye they have it own power..

Well at work we got 2 monitors, laptop and a docking.. so the problem im talking about might happen because its a docking station involved aswell?
Because i do know for sure if the laptop is in a docking and the docking's power supply aint big enough the monitors wont turn on.

thanx guys for helping, i ended up updating my drivers and am now able to connect my laptop to an external monitor, the prblm am facing now is, in the middle of watching lets say a movie, the screen goes black. wat must i do?

Check you power settings. make sure sleep, turn off monitor etc...are all set to never.
