I want to mount an HDTV in my lobby and "stream" notices and announcements without using a computer connection. I intend to use a USB thumb drive as the source for the files.
thanks

Bust out your HDTV manual and determine what format files will play via the USB port ---- if it's a modern HDTV, there should be a bunch of different formats.

► Produce/convert your announcement media to those supported formats

That might work if the TV will loop the media. If it just plays multimedia after some type of interaction, that doesn't work for digital signage.

I'm less concerned about the "looping" than I am the potential USB hurdles themselves. I suspect it will work just dandy within the limitations of the USB stick itself and the USB HDTV connection.

Some may be limited to FAT32/4GB. Others may support 4:2:2 JPG images and not 4:4:4. If the OP is using actual "PP" media, he should verify the export formats in his software to those supported by the HDTV/USB stick.

That should work around most anything . . .
