How do I connect a Pioneer VSX-1123-K (Audio/Video receiver) to my Telus Optik TV Box so that I can watch TV with surround

Hi, I am extremely frustrated as I am unable to figure out how to connect a Pioneer VSX-1123-K (Audio/Video receiver) to my Telus Optik TV Box so that I can watch TV with surround sound. My Sony CD player is hooked up to the Pioneer system and works fine, giving me surround sound, but I am not able to figure out how to connect the TV through the set-top-box. I am using HDMI cables and currently have one running from the TV to the Set-Top-Box and one running from the TV to the Pioneer unit.

does the tv and the pioneer receiver have a Optical Toslink Cable? if you do you would connect the tv Optical Toslink Cable Out to the Receiver and when ever you wanted to hear surround sound you would just turn on the receiver and switch it to tv.
