How do i know if this power cord is compatible with my charger's ac adapter?

My charger stopped working so I found an old power cord (the bit that goes into the wall and gets plugged into the 3 pins in the brick) and the charging light came up so it worked, I quickly pulled it out because I wasn't sure it was safe. On the original power cord it says nothing but on the one i found it says LS-15 2.5A 125V on the bit that goes into the brick. On the brick it says Ouput: 19v 3.42 a Input 100-240v 1.6a 50-60hz

As long as the connector is correct, the power cable itself does not matter.
