how to connect Magnavox dvd recorder to smart tv and cable, won't record anything??

I have connected my dvd recorder with Hemingway to smart tv, and cable box. Cable works, smart tv works, dvd player works, but dvd recorders nothing.

Your DVD recorder may have an over the air tuner built it but that won't be compatible with digital cable. If your cable box has analog av outputs or RF out you would need to connect those to the recorder. No way to get he av out of the smart TV so you can't record that.
