Issues with windows 7 media player

Hello,
I downloaded video from a panasonic camcorder. Those play fine from the computer. I burned a dvd (4.7 gb data) and when I pop the dvd into the drive to play it back it the audio skips and it says that windows media is not responding i read on the dvd package that before using the dvd in an 8x data drive that an upgraded version of firmware would need to be installed is this true and what do I need to do to fix this issue

Firmware updates you would get from the computer vendor's support site. They'd have the downloads listed by your PC model.

Is there a way to burn the disk at a slower speed using the program you have? That can help things at times.
