I just got my FX-3850 in the mail. Decided to throw it in the mobo, but after letting windows start and about 5 mins in. It freezes. Keyboard and mouse stop, nothing works and I have to do a hard restart. I have updated my bios, and just recently had to put my phenom back in to make this post. What am I doing wrong here?

Operating System
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1

AMD Phenom II X4 945
Deneb 45nm Technology

8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3

Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. GA-78LMT-USB3 6.0 (Socket M2

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (PNY)

Solution
Assuming you mean the FX-8350.

If that's the case, then the first thing I would check would be system temps and power stability. I would download and install CPUID (HWMonitor) to make sure your system is running stable and cool enough.

Your motherboard is 100% the problem. IT DOES NOT PROPERLY SUPPORT THE FX 8350.

I'm not trying to yell in all caps but I'd rather do that to get my point across. Return the 8350 and get a refund while you still can. I'm speaking from first-hand experience with several of those boards.

(my post at the bottom in another thread. another person has the same exact issue as you)

FYI: Even the FX 8320 and 8320e does not work properly in that board.
