Kindle fire USB problem.

So my daughter gave me her kindle fire to put some stuff on..i plugged the USB cord into the tablet,then plugged it into the USB on the pc,,and the tablet just shuts off.IT wont power up unless i disconnect the cable from the pc.
This isn't the original cable that came with the kindle, i also tried it with 2 different nexus 7 cables,,both the same.
Any ideas?

Thanks for the link, but have already tried all that. Even when the kindle is plugged into the USB for charging( the kindle is off and wont turn on until its unplugged form the pc), i cant see the kindle on the pc.
