Question Microphone AND microphone jack not working: which drivers to reinstall?

Something became corrupted sometime ago, but I don't recall if that was after a Windows Update or because I tried something in Computer Management / Device Manager.

The problem: neither of the two microphone inputs that ship with the laptop are recognized, i.e.:

• built-in microphone
• plug-in microphone

Skype and other applications just don't see a microphone, whether or not I plug one in.

I'm sure I need to reinstall some drivers but have no idea where to start. This is the MSI page for drivers for my GT72 laptop.
What should I try to reinstall first?

Hello Far,

You should reinstall both the built in microphone and the plug in microphone. But first, can you press Windows key + R, and type in devmgmt.msc and press enter, then navigate to Audio inputs and outputs, and see if there are any warning triangles on the drivers?
