Microphone problems ?

I don't know if this is the correct place to put it, but I think it is, if not, I'm sorry. I've been experiencing a problem in which whenever i record or hear myself, i hear a screech of something. It's persists even if i turn my microphone off but when i remove the cord from my PC it's gone. Is there anything I can do? Whenever I stream on Twitch viewers get annoyed by it, especially in an immersion game. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, but i figured it out. My front audio header is plugged into my sound card and it wasn't plugged in all the way, I plugged it in all the way and it fixed it completely!
