Need help changing my password on my hp G60-549DX Notebook

I can't change the password on my hp laptop. I have checked many times and slowed down my typing to ensure that I am matching my new password correctly and that is not the problem. Every time I try I get an error saying "Windows cannot change the password" Can anyone please help me fix whatever is going wrong?
