Well, I'm still at a loss as to why I can't receive NETV anymore. The
strange thing is that I am receiving the digital channels with "Satellite
Transmission Center" slates but I can't receive the channels with actual
programming. There was a time when I did receive those channels but they
disappeared one day. All I get on T5-600 is "Cannot find ratings
information. Unable to view, program may be locked out." On T5-601/602/603
I am getting "Cannot find channel, continuing to search.....". I've already
tried realigning the dish and playing with the azimuth and skew. But, I
shouldn't have to mess with any of that since I get some of the NETV
satellite transmissions on T5.

Your maps may be corrupted. Go to a digital channel on
G0, power down the receiver then unplug it for a few seconds.
Let it sit on G0 for a few minutes so the maps will refresh.

I've tried that several times.

3 questions

Are you getting a digital lock?

What model 4DTV do you have?

Has your receiver been authorized ... or is the receiver subbed to any digital
programming?

Try these channels and see what happens.

T7-400
T7 798

If you can receive T7-400 but do not receive T7-798 your receiver needs
to be authorized. T7-400 is ZK (Zero Key). ZK does not run through the
encryption/decryption engine. T7-798 is FP (Fixed Process). FP does run
through the encryption/decryption engine. Any 4DTV that has been
authorized by the ACC can receive FP channels, but if a receiver has
not been authorized it is SOL.

I get both channels. I had thought that authorization might have been a
problem since I don't currently subscribe to anything except for PPV on G10
but I lost NETV 2 months before I dropped my subscriptions.

I do NOT get a digital lock on 600-603 or 616 or 617 but I DO get a lock on
610-615.

No subscriptions but the receiver was authorized a few years ago when I did
have subscriptions. I am an account setup for PPV on G10, though.

The only other thing that I can think of that may
be causing the problem would be that the receiver
has reached its TDT limit and cannot correctly load
the maps

That's rather interesting that different transponders with different
polarization is shown for NETV even though my 4DTV automatically selects
horizontal polarization, only, for all of the NETV channels. Maybe I can
overide this by using one of those generic satellite designations?

I followed the procedure at that web site (since the TDT issue appears to be
my problem) except I used G0 since it showed up on the map after the
factory reset was done. However, I can't get a digital lock on G0-9.

The factory reset cleared the TDT trouble but I still can't get NETV. I even
tried unplugging the receiver for over 2 minutes and then powered on while
being tuned to G0-13. Still no-go.

At this point I have no idea what could be causing the problem.
There is something else that you can check, but I do not think
that it is causing the problem.

600 should be easier to receive than 610-615, even if the LNB
is drifting off frequency. To see if the LNB is drifting wait until
you get a digital lock on any channel then press Options 605
and use the left or right arrow key to view Diag C.

http://home.austin.rr.com/drlev/Diagscrn/diagc.htm
The frequency offset is the 1st field on the 2nd line
of Diag C. The page in the link above explains the
Diag C screen.

You will probably want to check the frequency offset on
a few digital channels on a few satellites before deciding
whether or not the LNB is drifting.

The offset was a steady +3.375 on T5/610-615. It was +3.375 on T5/600-603
for about a minute and then dropped to 0.000. On GB/603, it was a solid
+1.125. On W1/600, it was a solid +1.125.

The 4DTV 922 won't let me adjust the LNB offset.

Your LNB is drifting a bit, but not critically.

If you tune to an analog channel you could try adjusting the
LNB offset up 1.50 to 2.00 MHz to see what happens. I am
not near my receiver so I do not remember the exact key
sequence to get to that menu. It should be in one of the
submenus below Options 6-4

Like I said you must be on an analog channel to set the offset.

When I checked T5-610 earlier on my receiver I believe the offset
was something like 1.725. The offset on T5-600 was -0.125.

The offset value is not reliable unless you have a digital lock.
That is why when you switched from 610 to 600 you saw that
activity.

No luck yet. I've noticed that my timers don't work after the factory reset
also. This is one screwed up receiver. I guess I'll try at least one more
factory reset.

Well, I've tried 7 factory resets and it's still screwed up. I even tried
unplugging the receiver for a couple of minutes after the factory reset. My
timers won't work. I noticed after the resets that sometimes the IPG comes
up and sometimes it doesn't, sometimes the time is correct and sometimes it
isn't, and sometimes old messages come up also. Other than that, it works
OK but I still can't get NETV (but I suspect that could be an LNB problem
even though I replaced the LNB to see if it would fix the NETV problem). I
should mention that I can't get anything on Ku band even though the dish is
properly aligned and I replaced the LNB and I replaced the feed and I
replaced the cable between the receiver and the LNB. I'm sure spending a
lot of time and money to keep this thing running. Anyone know how much it
costs to repair a 4DTV (model 922)?

The time should eventually correct itself. After it does
the timers should work. If the receiver is receiving other
C-Band channels the 4DTV probably is not the source
of the problem.

www.atselectronics.com can repair the receiver if it is
malfunctioning. They can give you an estimate for a
repair.

One thing I neglected to mention is that the time is correct for GMT/UTC.
And the timers still don't work even when setting the timers according to
GNT/UTC.
