New Tablet ~ $300.00

I am looking for a new tablet (9" or more) for around $300. These are my options:

If going from $300 to $400 will give a me BIG performance increase and will guarantee that the tablet will be good/smooth for 2 years, then I don't mind expending extra $100.

I also know that in a couple of months new CPUs will be released. I may be a good idea to get a cheap tablet for around $200, keep it for around year, then sell it for $80-$100 and get a better tablet with a modern CPU later.
